Wild and Wandering is the fifth piece in the What Remains series — six large-format mixed media paintings exploring what persists in a landscape after disruption.

Built on a pewter acrylic base layered with copper rose gold metallic ink, the background holds ghost impressions of perennial ryegrass and yarrow, pressed into wet ink then removed, leaving only their trace. Real wild strawberry blossoms and escaped Rocket Larkspur are permanently embedded in the foreground, rising from a bed of ancient lichen.

Native and wanderer occupy the same luminous ground — neither more belonging than the other. The result is warm, quietly joyful, and grounded in the ecology of the Pacific Northwest landscape where these plants were gathered.

Note:  The painting is protected with multiple coats of Fine Art Fixative to help shield against UV damage, as well as archival varnish spray for added UV protection. Hanging paintings in direct sunlight will affect color retention over time.
