Some memories arrive like weather — sudden, atmospheric, impossible to hold.
The crocheted sun was made by my grandmother's hands — her warmth, still radiating long after she and my mother are gone. It hangs over everything, as grandmothers do.
The tree rises from bark collected on our own property, its branches draped in lichen, cradling a nest of robin's eggs — those impossibly blue harbingers of spring that appear every year as if to remind us that return is possible.
The clouds are fragments of Americana music, readable but deliberately softened — because that is how memory works. We know the melody but lose the words. We remember the feeling but not always the details.
At the base, vintage lace from a dear friend — purchased with a dream of sewing her wedding dress, a project never completed. She gave it to me in exchange for a craft painting project I finished for her, transforming an unlived plan into something permanent and beautiful.
The Weather of Memory is about what we inherit, what we carry, and what we choose to make beautiful from the pieces left behind.
Materials and process are central: gesso builds a base of tone, collage papers and textiles create pattern and meaning, and botanical elements are pressed and adhered with archival care.
If a memory came with weather today, what would it be? 🌸🍃☁️✨🎐
