When quiet moments on the water ripple through memory, "Osaka Ducks" captures three ducks moving through gentle reflections and scattered wildflowers 🌿✨. I layered watercolor, letting each pass of the brush find its place. The surface includes delicate pressed geraniums, nasturtiums, and parsley in the foreground, a textural counterpoint to the painted water and the birds’ calligraphic outlines. The top left duck spreads a wing mid-motion; the others glide with serene intent—small gestures that invite a pause.

Inspiration for this painting:  This painting is a compilation of ducks we photographed while visiting the Osaka Castle in Osaka, Japan in 2023.  We viewed a wide variety of fowl feeding in the moat-like lake surrounding the castle with stunning colors -– both the birds and the fall foliage -- on display.
