"Mallard At Rest" - The original 14" by 14" watercolor and India Ink painting on canvas incorporates dried, pressed poppy bud & leaves, Dalmatian Toadflax, and blade grass enveloping a mallard resting in a pond.
Inspiration for this painting: This painting is one of my first watercolor and India ink on canvas compositions, utilizing dried, pressed flowers and foliage. When we kayak during the summer, mallards are frequently spotted in the nearby lakes, ponds and streams. The kayak provides a unique vantage point from the water to observe the ducks’ vibrant head and bill colors. Next up painting Loons!
